Super Religare Laboratories
Limited (Formerly SRL Ranbaxy Ltd.) is the largest and most trusted
pathology laboratory network in India, servicing nearly 4,000 hospitals/path labs and
over 50,000 doctors. SRL performs over 34000 tests/day and caters to approximately 8 million
patients in a year offering a comprehensive range of over 3,500 tests, from the
routine to the highly specialized tests. The tests are based on more than 200 technologies
covering most known diseases.
Super Religare Laboratories Limited (Formerly SRL Ranbaxy Ltd.) intends to establish
its physical presence in Europe, the Middle East and South East Asia by setting
up Reference Laboratories, one in each area, in order to cater to the specialized
test requirements of the countries in these regions. It also wishes to expand its
operations to the countries in Africa and North America in order to tap the out
sourcing opportunities in these continents.
Super Religare Laboratories Limited (Formerly SRL Ranbaxy Ltd.) strives to strengthen
its analytical capability and take its services beyond providing just an inert report
by taking following steps: developing predictive and preventive capabilities; providing
advanced analytical support for better health management; taking Wellness beyond
physical health by focusing on lifestyle value adds such as emotional wellbeing.
Clinical Research Services Division is dedicated to offering Central Laboratory
Services to support the needs of drug development for various Phases of Clinical
Trials. It's a force offering Central Laboratory Services with an uniquely flexible
approach in customizing our services to comply with the protocol requirements and
the needs of our Sponsors with a commitment of accuracy and reproducibility of our
analytical data.
THERMAL CYCLERS (PCR Technology):
The reliability of a PCR results is dependent on its sensitivity, specificity and reproducibility. An essential prerequisite for a successful PCR is efficient sample preparation, as well as thermal cyclers with excellent temperature precision and block
homogeneity. Apart from well defined dedicated PCR step-up, well trained staff, the recent technological advances in thermal cyclers from Applied Biosystems and MJ Research has been successfully adapted at SRL to optimize PCR assays with explicit sensitivity and specificity. Not just simple PCR but all the hyphenated forms of PCR i.e. PCR-RFLP, Nested PCR, Multiplex PCR, ARMS PCR etc. have been successfully standardized and utilized for diagnosing range of infectious diseases, genetic disorders,
cancer etc.
Real Time PCR:
First Laboratory in India to offer Real Time Technology for quantitative monitoring of HIV, HBV and HCV Viral Loads. The development of real-time quantitative PCR has eliminated the variability traditionally associated with quantitative PCR, thus allowing the routine and reliable
quantification of PCR products. This technology therefore, now provides means of accurate, sensitive and reproducible measurements of viral loads directly in clinical specimens. Apart from this the technology is effectively used in other applications such as gene expression studies, mutation detection, allelic discrimination and optimizing PCR conditions. Advanced oncology markers for minimal residue disease detection have been successfully developed and implicated for monitoring purpose. At SRL Real Time PCR platforms from Corbett Research and Stratagene are effectively used for development as well as testing purpose.
GENETIC DNA ANALYSER (Sequencer): The sequencing platform available at SRL is a state of art Genetic analyzer facility from Applied Biosystems that has been designed to maximize capacity while maintaining efficiency, scalability and flexibility of both research and clinical applications. The platform is well recognized internationally for conducting advanced tests such as HIV Genotyping
and Drug Resistance. Apart from mutation detection, genotyping analysis for Molecular diagnostics applications, other super specialized analysis i.e. SNP analysis, Fragment analysis, QFPCR etc. are performed for the R&D scientists studying molecular mechanisms for various diseases and disorders such as cancer, diabetes, asthma , and others. The accuracy and quality of the sequencing data generated every day is monitored through the stringent and regular QC/QA protocols and checks.
FISH: Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) refers to the use of labeled nucleic acid sequence probes for the visualization of specific DNA or RNA sequences on mitotic chromosome preparations or in interphase cells. Since it is more sensitive compared to conventional cytogenetics, it is a method of choice for detecting specific chromosomal abnormalities in various
types of leukemia. Also it is used for screening and diagnosis of genetic disorders such as Down’s Syndrome (Trisomy 21) etc. in fetal specimens. Today at SRL FISH has been successfully implicated for monitoring of Her-2/neu gene amplification in breast cancer patients, for detection and quantification of chromosomal translocations i.e. BCR-ABL in CML patients, AML-ETO in AML patients and Delq for CLL patients. Olympus Microscope with Metasystem platform is used for FISH analysis.
RiboPrinter:
The RiboPrinter system is an automated system for identifying and/or characterizing microbial isolates (bacterial samples). The RiboPrinter system generates RiboPrint patterns based on ribosomal RNA. These patterns are used to characterize a bacterial sample, and then identify the bacterium by comparing it with an identification library established at R&D division of SRL. The RiboPrinter® system includes identification libraries with over 6400 RiboPrint™ patterns, representing over 200 bacterial genera and more than 1400 species and serotypes that are critical to the food and pharmaceutical industries. This facility is also available for researchers working on epidemiological aspects of the bacterial isolates cultured from different clinical specimens.
